SUMMARY:Seasonal Salad Session Inspired by the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston
DESCRIPTION:Register for event >\nEvent capacity: 50 \nSuggested donation supporting the university’s COVID-19 response and student financial aid: $35 \nJoin host Patricia Crowley (C’88) for a tour of her personal garden and brief history of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston\, where she and her husband have served as chefs for the Museum restaurant\, Café G\, for almost 20 years. Café G is known for its seasonal\, local\, organic ingredients that are inspired not only by the seasons but the museum and its collection. In this especially seasonal Summer Session\, Crowley will demonstrate how to make Café G’s famous Baby Zucchini Salad with Fresh Ricotta and Nasturtium Pesto using ingredients from the garden. The hanging of nasturtium flowers from the balconies of the Museum courtyard is an annual\, much-anticipated event that takes place in the spring. Each year\, she and her husband design a menu that incorporates these special flowers. \n  \n\n  \nHost bio\nPatricia Crowley graduated from Georgetown in 1988 with a dream and passion for becoming a chef. She left the Hilltop and headed to Hyde Park\, NY to attend the Culinary Institute of America. She began her culinary career working for the Four Seasons in Boston. In 1997\, she married Pete Crowley\, a classmate at the Culinary Institute\, and they continued their culinary adventure by buying one-way tickets to France. They worked in the French Alps in Alpe d’Huez\, Les Deux Alpes\, and Tignes for two years before heading back to the United States. They began their tenure at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 2002\, operating Café G\, the small restaurant within the museum. In 2012\, Café G moved to the New Wing designed by Renzo Piano and the Crowleys together created a new and exciting menu featuring seasonal\, local and organic ingredients. \nAbout The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum\nModeled after a 15th Century Venetian palazzo\, The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston houses one of the world’s most remarkable art collections including significant examples of European\, Asian\, and American art. It is originally the home of Isabella Stewart Gardner\, an art collector\, philanthropist\, and patron of the arts\, whose will called for her art collection to be permanently exhibited “for the education and enjoyment of the public forever.” The beautiful glass-enclosed Renzo Piano-designed Café G is the museum’s café overlooking the garden.
