DESCRIPTION:Register for event >\nEvent capacity: 50 \nSuggested donation supporting the university’s COVID-19 response and student financial aid: $25 \nExplore abstraction with artist Katie Ré Scheidt (C’97) as she guides you through simple exercises designed to open the mind to conceptual thinking. Discover spontaneous ways to create new shapes while focusing on contour lines of everyday objects. Prepare to have fun creating stimulating work with basic materials. An enjoyable experience for beginners and experienced artists alike. \nWhat you’ll need\n\nScissors\nAny one color acrylic paint or gouache\n2 brushes\, one larger Flat\, Bridget or Filbert brush and one smaller\n2 -4 sheets of Watercolor paper (even computer paper will work!)\n\n  \n\n  \nHost bio\n \nKatie Ré Scheidt is an abstract expressionist artist living in Roxbury\, Connecticut. Her sophisticated use of color and uninhibited brushwork contribute to Scheidt’s lyrical and uplifting body of work. Before life as an artist\, Scheidt worked on Wall Street for 12 years\, and in 2010 moved to Litchfield County with her husband where they raise their two children. Scheidt paints in her studio\, “The Fauve Barn\,” and has developed a strong commission business over the past six years\, focusing on custom abstracts as well as portraiture and nudes. Her work can be found in private collections throughout the world. \nAbout Summer Sessions: Virtual Alumni Experiences\nJoin us for our new virtual experiences program\, Summer Sessions! Summer Sessions showcase Hoya alumni chefs\, artists\, entertainers\, athletes\, florists\, entrepreneurs\, and more\, all through curated\, live Zoom sessions. \nEach Summer Session host is sharing a talent while bringing together our Hoya community to support the university.
