Mat Pilates is a great total-body workout with an emphasis on strengthening and stabilizing the core\, including the entire abdominal wall\, back muscles\, glutes and hips. Pilates also enhances balance and alignment\, and includes toning of the legs and arms as well. This class is suitable for all levels\, with suggested modifications for beginners and level-up challenges for experienced Pilates students. Wear comfortable workout clothes; class is performed barefoot. \nWhat you’ll need\nYoga mat\nTowel\nPilates Ring/”Magic Circle” (optional; available on Amazon or fitness retail stores) \n  \n\n  \nHost bio\n \nMeg Cairns (C’90\, MA’91) has been an exercise instructor for 15 years. She is certified in yoga\, Mat Pilates\, Rebounding (trampoline aerobics)\, and general group exercise. Cairns taught yoga\, Pilates\, aerobics\, Rebounding\, YogaBeat\, and more while working at Bally’s Total Fitness and LA Fitness. She is a certified Pure Barre teacher\, and has been teaching at Pure Barre Fort Lauderdale for the past six years. In addition\, she has eight years of experience teaching elementary school kids yoga. Her current Mat Pilates clientele includes beginners\, regulars\, other fitness instructors\, yoga teachers\, and professional ballerinas from all over the U.S. and Canada. \nAbout Summer Sessions: Alumni Virtual Experiences\nJoin us for our new alumni virtual experiences program\, Summer Sessions! Summer Sessions showcase Hoya alumni chefs\, artists\, entertainers\, athletes\, florists\, entrepreneurs\, and more\, all through curated\, live Zoom sessions. \nEach alumni host is sharing a talent while bringing together our Hoya community to support the university.
